Xsolla
Introduction of the Portal
Xsolla is the video game commerce company, powered by its Transaction Engine and Business Engine, that helps developers and publishers market, sell, connect and optimize their games globally.
Serving only the video game industry, the Xsolla Transaction Engine powers the full suite of cloud-based tools to promote and monetize projects, while Xsolla Business Engine provides clients with the roadmap to maximize those tools, and connect them with industry partnerships to expand their business. The two work seamlessly together — for businesses of all sizes, from indie to enterprise — to solve the complexities of distribution, marketing and monetization so they can increase their audience, sales and revenue.
In our documentation we describe the components of the engines — the products — through their APIs, SDKs and integration guides.
Why nominated
Over the past year, we've worked hard collaborating with other teams to deliver a better user experience for our documentation readers.
Best Findability of Products in a DevPortal
One of the big decisions was to adapt a common theme for all of our products so readers would grasp the information more easily. We got inspired by a well known how-tos, tutorials, references and explanations format and adapted it to our needs.
We also engaged the Data Science team to assist us in improving the user flow. They showed us how our readers navigate the docs, thus helping us improve the structure and content of our sections to make it more logical for users.
Best Design
To reflect the company's focus on the gaming industry in the documentation, we added a fun animation to the main page and a game element to the onboarding instructions.
We’ve also worked on tools to collect feedback to ensure that the users can share their experience with us.
Best International & Localized Devportal
Trying to make our documentation convenient, we translate it into 5 languages. The challenge is always in finding new ways to do it conveniently and efficiently. Recently we started to translate open API specifications, and are now planning to add localized versions to all of our APIs.
