Introduction
Launched in 9/2021 Developer Studio is a developer portal built by Fiserv to bring their financial technology products onto one platform. Within Developer Studio, you can discover APIs, build integrations and test them before launching to market. By having a single place to mix & match APIs across payments, banking, issuing, etc… developers can build all manner of embedded finance applications.
Why nominated?
Discovery was key for us at the start because of all the myriad of API products that exist in Fiserv. Thus, we made sure basic discovery, search and an inventory of APIs was easily accessible to developers. The developer can find any doc, any API and any asset they need when they need it.|
Due to all the information we have it was important that the site wasn’t overwhelming and there was a clear flow. The flow ultimately guided the developer to the one thing they care most about: trying the API. This was especially true on mobile as well which garnered us a Webby Award for Best Mobile Visual Design - Function
While other portals focus on specific features our goal was to create a hybrid through a best of breed approach to develop a new kind of developer experience. We made API search extensible through tags, API experimentation possible with live edit of request bodies and schema highlighting possible to help understanding complicated schemas.
