Mercedes–Benz /developers is the developer ecosystem by Mercedes-Benz. We make Mercedes-Benz Data APIs available to encourage the development of innovative business models for automotive and beyond. With the Bring-Your-Own-Car initiative we address the private developers community.
Why nominated?
The Mercedes-Benz /developers team is eager to provide best-in-class developer portal that provide everything our developers and business users need. The portal conveys a clear and state-of-the-art design language. This draws users’ attention to the most important thing: our products.
This year we fully focussed on B2B customers beyond and without any developer background. We saw the need to support this important and growing customer base with their strong business context. That is why we have launched our data portal - Mercedes-Benz Data (data.mercedes-benz.com) - in addition to our developer portal.
With an innovative design we clearly address the target groups and their industries: city & government, energy and infrastructure & mapping as the three new important customer groups in addition to our two well-known customer groups fleet and retail.
The data portal is structured according to his needs: We put business value, use cases, success stories and contact persons in the front layer.
Beside API products we now offer ready-to-use Dashboard products. These products serves for many customers who don't operate platforms to integrate our APIs. The Dashboard products itself consumes our API products and offers even more value and capabilities to the customers.
With our two portals we now offer multiple business models that reflects the diverse demand from our customers. For the API products we offer several payment models: pay-per-call, monthly-flatrate, graduated price-ranges and even dedicated customer contracts. The contracts for our Dashboard products reflects the individual use cases of our customers.
At least in our industry we are convinced that developer portals have to evolve from tech-savy portals to business driven data portals.
