Introduction
Spotify for Developers is a portal that offers a set of APIs, SDKs and resources for developers to build applications and integrations that interact with Spotify's music streaming service. It allows developers to access and leverage Spotify's vast catalog of music, user data, and functionality to create innovative music-related applications.
The new developer portal has been built from the ground up, playing a significant role in expanding the Spotify ecosystem and enhancing the music streaming experience for users, app makers, and developers.

Best Visual Design
Spotify for Developers is a portal facing our external developer community and partners, so we designed it to be a “sub-brand” with its unique visual identity while still being distinctively Spotify.
The new design has been built around three main ideas: Energy, Creativity and Fun.
The landing page has three layers of metaphors:
- Plug in the API (electricity cord) and unleash creativity (confetti)
- The colorful dots look like disco ball lights – music and dance
- Outer space – infinite possibilities, a theme a lot of developers like because of pop culture
Best API Reference Documentation
The new API reference enhances the developer experience by using their own Spotify data, such as playlists, recommendations, or user profiles when trying out the endpoints.
The reference has been integrated into the documentation, offering an enhanced level of interaction. Developers can now click on the endpoint response fields to highlight the corresponding JSON fields, and vice versa, facilitating a seamless connection between the two.
The new API reference is based on the OpenAPI specification and has been written from scratch without external dependencies.
Best Accessible Developer Portal
From design to engineering, we are dedicated to make the portal inclusive, where anyone could enjoy the experience of developing using our technologies.
We also wanted to make sure that developers would care about accessibility when implementing and designing their applications. As part of this effort, we have published the accessibility guidelines on the portal to provide valuable resources and guidance.
The portal achieves an accessibility score of 100 in tools like Lighthouse.
