The BNY Treasury Services (TS) API Developer Portal provides a comprehensive guide to BNY’s Treasury Services API capabilities. Information is organized by products and services with intuitive navigation. Documentation covers product descriptions, API specifications, use-cases, tutorials and API request/response samples. An AI-based chatbot answers questions and helps users find the relevant information quickly. The portal also has API Wizard that allows users make API calls in a sandbox environment using a simple UI.
NOMINATION RATIONALE
1) BEST (API) PRODUCT PORTAL INSIDE A DEVELOPER PORTAL
BNY has an enterprise-wide developer portal (BNY Marketplace) that aggregates all APIs available to clients across our many lines of business. However, in BNY’s Treasury Services business, APIs provide outsize value to clients due to the unique characteristics of the business. Specifically, clients rely on Treasury Services APIs to enable speed and scalability in their own businesses – for example, enabling integrated payments in their products and services.
The BNY TS API Developer Portal is a purpose-built microportal to provide elevated documentation, information, and resources to clients and prospects alike who want to use BNY’s Treasury APIs for their business solutions.
2) BEST SOLUTION PORTAL
The BNY Treasury Services (TS) Developer Portal contains many individual endpoints that allow fine control over the entire payments process. These are organized by products and our service offerings. Client needs typically align to a few “use cases” (i.e., common journeys) that span up to ten unique endpoints. Accordingly, we also created a “Use Cases” section in the portal, which provides a step-by-step walkthrough of each endpoint, as well as the pre-requisites for each.
By aggregating our API offerings into use cases, we provide simple pathways for developers at the client, who typically are non-experts in financial services, to accomplish common tasks. The result is significantly faster implementation, and therefore lower integration costs, for our clients.
We took this a step further: we recently released the API Wizard feature, which provides a guided set-up user interface to allow clients to easily turn their desired use case into functioning code.
Finally, for expert users, we provide complete documentation around each individual step in these journeys (e.g., Track a Funds Transfer) for clients who desire precise control over their payment process.
3) BEST AI-ENABLED DEVELOPER PORTAL
The BNY Treasury Services (TS) API Developer Portal uses an AI-based assistant to answer questions about our Treasury Services API offerings and helps them focus on the most relevant information for their solution. This is helpful for both technical and non-technical users.
We designed our AI agent with different client personas in mind. Experienced users can ask the agent complex questions about their specific API implementation. The agent also provides simple answers to questions from users who have limited domain knowledge. To support both types of users, the agent is trained on the BNY TS API Developer Portal content, as well as a full complement of industry-specific background information.
